Abstract
Suicidal tendency following drug intoxication is increased according to heightening social stress which is resulted from social complexity and development.
It is well known that barbiturate intoxication is higher percentage among drug intoxications. The author observed 72 cases of acute barbiturate intoxication who admitted to Busan National University Hospital during the period between Jan. 1961 and Aug. 1971. The results were as follows:
1. There was no sexual difference among 34 cases of barbiturate intoxication and most of the cases are in young ages which revealed Bromsulphalein retention.
2. According to lifer function studies, increment of SGOT was 27.7 percent. SGPT was 18 percent and BSP retention was 29.4 percent BSP test revealed most remarkable change.
3. There, was no remarkable correlation between drug doses and BSP retention.
4. There was no remarkable correlation between coma degree and liver function studies.
5. Among liver function studies of barbiturate induced hepatopathy, BSP test was most sensitive and then SGOT, SGPT, TTT, in order.
6. In the group of BSP retention, SGOT and SGPT were also increased altogether. But TTT showed no remarkable change.
